America needs a FREE and HONEST Press

Recently Chris Mathews said and I paraphrase. “I have never seen Sarah Palin read anything so I am not sure she can even read” When any press person with the ear of our people makes cruel and misguided statements like this about any good, honest hard working American solely for the purpose of demeaning that individual they have certainly abandoned their responsibility. I am not defending Sarah Palin because she has already proved that she can certainly do a better job of that than many in our current Press Corps.

The worst part of Mathews spewing about Sarah Palin was that he was so obviously absent from the press scene when The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass this bill, so that we can find out what is in it?” A strong Free Press would have shouted that comment, made by the third most powerful person in America, to the heavens and kept on doing so until our entire population understood the significance of that comment.

With that simple utterance, Nancy Pelosi showed her ignorance relative to the insidious healthcare bill she was promoting as being wonderful legislation. Now that is REAL NEWS. Attempting to falsely charge Sarah Palin of being ignorant (she has proven many times to anybody listening that she is very intelligent and a solid American) is NOT REAL NEWS and is not worthy of a Free and Honest Press. Chris Mathews brings shame to what should really be the strong fourth arm of our government.

Retired, but still spending an inordinant amount of time thinking about all things big and small. I am proud to be a strong constitutional conservative. I am also proud to have been married over 56 years to my wonderful wife, Louise. I continue to be amazed that she has put up with me for such a long time, but have been happy that she decided to do so. "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not," warned Thomas Jefferson.
